Recruiting Vendors for Craft Riot 2010

Hi All,

We met last night over at Marchesa and have some great ideas, wish-lists, and plans which I will post about later.

In the meantime, we discussed ways to encourage more sign-ups for the show and wanted to ask that all the committee members personally ask 5 friends (with Etsy shops) to apply to show - use your best persuasive tactics and see what happens - we do plan to open it up if we don't get enough vendors by August 1st, but every little bit helps

I am trolling Etsy and Shop Local to check out shops and am inviting those that look promising to apply for the show. Right now we have a lot of jewelry, so I'm really trying to search out some unique and non-redundant possibilities.

We probably all know team members and other Etsy shop owners that would be good canidates so let's see what we can do in generating more interest for the show!

great idea, Amelia! i forgot they had that call for submissions area.
also, fyi everybody, i just added alternate instructions to the app for folks without Etsy shops, explaining how they should email us their photos. so now we can open up the application process to ALL interested vendors! i know we're technically 2 days ahead of the deadline, but i am going to be super-busy this weekend & just needed to get it done now. i think it's fine to go ahead & start inviting all vendors anyway; 2 days doesn't matter to anybody, right?

I tweeted the open call. I commented on the Alamo City Handmade board with a link to remind them. Do we need to adjust the Craigslist ad? Is the Craigslist ad in SA, Dallas &/or Houston, too? Everyone that I know that has a business has already applied, or can't for financial reasons. I'll keep tweeting about it, though..from the team account & my personal one.

PS - I know I haven't applied, yet, but I will. It's crazy town over here.
